Sneak Peek At The Hottest Fall 2016 Colors

If you looked at a fashion magazine over the summer, you saw the Fall 2016 Fashion Runway Previews. Did you look at the models with a sneer and say to yourself, “I’d never be caught DEAD in THAT?” Yah, I know, only the rich and famous actually wear the runway fashions. We REAL women wear a tone-downed version of the over-the-top designs. Happily…

For me personally, as a COPPER, I get excited about fall fashions because those are MY colors. The burnt oranges, mustard yellows, brick reds, olive greens, and deep teals. But I’m actually excited about this fall’s color palette because there seems to be something for everyone. Every color palette is represented in fall color swatches chosen by the Pantone Color Institute. The season’s color trends are anchored by earthy tones like Warm Taupe and Dusty Cedar with pops of vibrant colors like Spicy Mustard and Bodacious. According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute:

“Transcending gender, these unexpectedly vivacious colors in our Fall 2016 palette act as playful but structured departures from your more typical fall shades. Blue skies represent constancy as they are always above us. Grays give a feeling of stability, Red tones invite confidence and warmth, while the hot Pinkish Purples and Spicy Mustard Yellows suggest a touch of the exotic.”

If you fall in love with one of these new, trendy colors and desperately want to wear it, but sadly, the color makes your skin look pale and drawn, here’s what I recommend: if one of these new colors isn’t in your color palette, but you LOVE it, just wear it below your waist or wear it as an accessory such as a handbag or shoes. Let’s say I’m in love with Bodacious, but the vibrant violet color makes my skin look pale and dull (which it does…), I can wear this pair of gorgeous Bodacious-colored wide-legged pants (pictured below) and wear a top in my color. I’d go with one of my COPPER neutrals, such as a sweater or blouse in this year’s Warm Taupe, or a dark mahogany brown jacket with leather trim.

Here are some other ways you can incorporate these colors into your fall wardrobe:

Spicy Mustard Sack Dress Over Tights

Have Fun Mixing and Matching Riverside Blue, Aurora Red and Spicy Mustard

Pop of Color With Lush Meadow Paper London Jacket Over Dark Wash Jeans

Mix and Match Airy Blue and Riverside

If you pay attention in the marketplace you’ll see these colors appearing on clothing racks and makeup counters.  The new colors are meant to whip up excitement in the industry as well as in us, the buyers! The trick is to determine which of these beautiful fall colors looks best on you and blends harmoniously with your current wardrobe. Stay tuned in the next couple weeks when I announce my next free webinar where I’m partnering with makeup company founder and owner, Lisa Liguori, of www.SimpleBeautyMinerals.com to show you how to incorporate these new fall colors into your makeup and wardrobe.

Which of these beautiful fall colors are you excited about adding to your wardrobe this year?

Love the writing about colors. Yours, and Pantone’s (“playful, yet structured…” sounds like a fine wine).

Thanks, Linda, for keeping these topics top of mind for me (and women like me). Without you, I’d be comfortably frumpy all the time, not just in the privacy of my home office. I dream of spending time with you for an “Absolutely Fabulous” intensive Personal Branding VIP weekend – where you’re putting me in colors and outfits and hair, and do a photo shoot (maybe even a 3 minute video shoot). Expect me in 2017!

Louise, I can’t WAIT until you’re here on the beautiful Central Coast doing a photo shoot with me styling you (so easy to do!) and my excellent photographer, Colleen Rosenthal. A video shoot sounds fantastic, too. You do such wonderful work with your clients helping them chart their courses to a new life and career path. Would love to see you reaching more people with a marketing campaign of gorgeous personal photos and videos.
